Pixlr lets you upload photos either from your computer or the Web and edit them in a cool user interface. It looks as if I'm using a desktop application and not browser-based. Key features which Pixlr provides includes multiple layers for masking and effects, free transform tool, custom brushes, adjustments of brightness and contrast, filters such as blur, sharpen, old photo, etc.

When you'ved finished editing your images, Pixlr lets you download them back to your hard drive in either JPEG or PNG format. If you select JPEG, you can choose the quality of the image.
I feel that Pixlr is a pretty neat and slick online image editor and it's a great alternative to the expensive Photoshop.
If you're wondering which desktop-based image editor I'm using, it got to be the impressive SnagIt Editor. Although it doesn't provides layers support like Pixlr or Photoshop, at least it does a decent job in helping me edit snapshots taken using SnapIt 9. Previously, my default image editor was MS Paint (I didn't really like it).
